EXHIBIT OVERVIEW
“When the Moon rose in the Third Northern Hall I went to the Ninth Vestibule to witness the joining of three Tides.”
from the book Piranesi by Suzanna Clarke
With this opening line author Suzanna Clarke takes her main character on a quest to discern the mysteries of his world. This year, our “Friends of Friday Arts Project” are exhibiting work created during “drawing nites” and on their own. Piranesi by Clarke was this year’s inspiration. This book of “magical realism” is rich with imagery both ancient and contemporary.
All pieces are attempts to mingle the artist’s musings with the author’s story as they read or listened to the book, and looked at models or still life’s inspired by Piranesi. These works were completed by adolescents, adults, hobbyists, and professionals of varying ages and experience.
